I’m not shouting. It’s just when women talk, some people think we’re shouting. –– Hillary Clinton, Democratic National Committee, Woman’s Leadership Forum, October 23, 2015
The Patriarchy – the invisible force that holds women back and allows some men, mostly Republicans, to grill powerful women who had upset them.
Why is it that these men think that they have the right to treat women in this way?
“Something big is happening for us as women. We’re on the brink of an evolutionary shift with the potential to alter the course of history. Millions of us around the world are feeling a calling to reclaim the feminine, and so doing, to awaken our authentic power to co-create the future of our lives and shape the future of our world.” I discovered this quote from Evolutionary Women’s Tribe while doing research to support my hypothesis of the emerging paradigm shift from a male dominated to one more influenced by female qualities such as the capacity to thing complicity, to think long term and the female collective intelligence. It to the fullest extent expresses what is happening. They continue writing, that for the first time in history women outnumber men as graduates from American Colleges. More than 40% of the US women are now the primary breadwinners in their households and in 2012 women outnumber men in the workforce. And then comes the unbelieving paradox that women in the US have never been unhappier. The overall sense of happiness has actually declined since the early 1970s. Most women of today experience a big gap between of what they want in their lives for family, friends and in their careers.
The possibilities are so much more. Women have been trying to adapt to the masculine to have power in the system, but it has not worked according to the hopes and expectations. The Evolutionary Women’s Tribe call this the problem with no name. According to me however, the problem has a name and it is known as patriarchy. This social system goes back 6000 years when humans moved from being hunter and gatherers to be farmers. An elite of men organized society for their own purpose of power and social status and the victims of this process were children and women. They were regarded as commodities that would increase their power and wealth. The patriarchy was created. A system where an elite of men decided to take controll over women and nature. And it seems like nothing much has changed since then? We have an outer social system of men who think it is their right to make the rules and women has to follow them. If not: the patriarch (mostly republican males) will punish them for not following the rules. This outer system has in women (and males) created an inner voice called the inner patriarch. This voice tells a woman how she has to behave in order to be accepted by the patriarch because unconsciously this voice that is like the air that we breathe, it is there, but we don’t notice it, she will be punished.
This societal system of patriarchy is causing a lot of the problems that we see in the world. 70% of the world’s population want a female future. We are dead tired of the ruling of the patriarchy and if the change we desperately need to save our planet shall happen, we need to open our eyes, take charge as response-able human beings, and be the change we want to see in the world.
